2024 Summer Gold Rules (U11 and U13)


1. PWSA / Softball Canada playing rules apply with exceptions listed below.

2. Free substitution will be allowed on defense only, all players must bat.

3. Non PWSA teams must provide Travel Permit when checking in

4. Teams must be ready and available to play 15 minutes prior to game time.

5. Complete team list (roster) is to be provided prior to or at time of registration to tournament convenor. No additional players can be added to the roster after 1st game. Note: if a player or players are not playing in the first game, they may play in subsequent games if their name is on the roster handed in prior to the first game.

6. A team who has borrowed a player from another team must obtain and submit t0 tournament convener, a Letter of Permission from the team the player is registered with. If a Letter of Permission is not provided, the player will not be covered by insurance and is ineligible to play.

7. Any team with ineligible players will be disqualified from the Tournament

8. There will be no infield practice on game diamond.

9. "Home Team" decided by flip of coin by plate umpire. Home team responsible for official score keeping. Home plate umpire time is the official time.

10. Pool Placement will be decided by a point total. Two points will be awarded for a win and One point for a tie.

11. "Round Robin Game Length” will be a regulation seven innings with the following exception: No new inning will start after 90 minutes for U13 and for U11 80 Minutes. Umpire keeps official time and will provide this time to each team after the first pitch. Time to start from 1st pitch. Home team will not bat if ahead after time limit expires.

12. "Mercy Rule” In effect for all games including medal games.

15 runs ahead at the end of 3 or 4 innings.
10 runs ahead at the end of 5 or more innings.

13. In case of a tie at curfew or 7 innings game will remain a tie during round robin play.

14. "Final Standings” In order to break a tie after round robin play in the final division standings,

I.   Head To Head

II.  Runs Against. 

III. Run Differential.

IV.  Runs For

V.   Coin Toss.

15. All playoff/Championship games: no new inning after 90 Minutes. Mercy rule will apply. If tied at completion of game, international tie breaker rule will apply.

16. Home team will provide the official scorekeeper. Both teams must submit scores at the end of their game. Home team is to confirm score with opposing team and provide scores to Tournament desk immediately following the completion of the game.

17. No protests will be accepted. Umpires decision is final.

18. Forfeit games will be a score of 7 - 0.

19. Proof of age must be available upon request from tournament staff.

20. Tournament Coordinators have the right to alter the tournament format if necessary due to circumstances beyond their control (ie weather).

21. As per PWSA rules NO ALCOHOL by PARENTS, COACHES, PLAYERS

22. Player/Coach/Spectator misconduct will not be tolerated.

23. For the U11 Division we have an odd number of teams therefore Chatham will play 4 pool games so for the purpose of playoff we will take the results from the First 3 Round Robin Games Only.

24. U11 ONLY THERE WILL BE A 5 RUN CAP PER INNING.
